ANDOVER New Street have announced the appointment of Ben Dillon as director of football.

Ben has a wealth of football experience having been at Bournemouth as a youngster before spending three years at Basingstoke.

Later he moved to Hartley Wintney and was the top goal scorer when they won promotion, and was promptly offered the manager’s job at the age of 23.

After three years, he took over as manager at Badshot Lea and then Tadley Calleva before work and travel made the job too difficult.

He reverted to playing, before being offered the role at New Street where he will be responsible to football chairman John Ward.

Ben said: "I was hoping to play for a couple or more seasons and did not expect to be offered this role, one that very much appeals to me.

"After meeting with the club and listening to their ambitions for progress, it is a role that greatly excites me and I hope I can bring my experience to the table. I also hope to work as closely as possible with Jamie Coleman and his staff with regard to strengthening the squad when required and helping the chairman where necessary.

"The side has made a good start to the season and is improving week by week, and we will all be working hard and looking for that to continue."
