TWO gymnasts from Andover will compete in a national trampoline championship.

Kirstof Willerton, 30, and Comfort Yeates, 18, will be taking part in the 2023 Trampoline, Tumbling & DMT British Championships in Birmingham in an effort to qualify for the World Championships in November.

The pair will be among 300 other tumblers and trampolinists at the Utilita Arena, which starts on Friday, September 15.

The pressure and significance of this competition is certainly heavy, as it determines who will be selected to compete at the Trampoline World Championships - which in itself is an Olympic qualifying event for Paris 2024.

Sarah Powell, chief executive of British Gymnastics, said: “I am thoroughly looking forward to watching all those participating in the British Championships this weekend.

"In line with our new direction, ‘Leap Without Limits’, the event is an opportunity to highlight some of the incredible talent in the UK right now and deliver an uplifting gymnastics experience for all.”

The two tumbling sensations aim to be among the 14 athletes selected to represent the country and compete in the World Championships in November, where 100 gymnasts from over 50 countries will compete across eight days.

Kristof has been competing for more than 10 years and came away with an individual silver at last year’s World Championships.

She now trains reigning World Champion Comfort, who rose to fame last year whereupon a last-minute call-up resulted in her being named Tumbling World Champion at the age of just 17.
