Street played two "very different" friendlies in the space of three days, winning one and the second one finishing with the scores level.

On Saturday they made the short journey to the Portway and defeated Andover Town six nil with all the goals coming in the second half.

Street were without six or seven players and Town had a number of new signings but it was a perhaps unexpected scoreline with both sides being at the same level last season.

Street were dominant throughout with goals from Shaun Dallimore, Shane Locke, Leyton Tulk, Patrick McDonald, Robbie Owen and an own goal, and could have scored more and, on the basis of the afternoon, it could be a long season for the Town.

Onto Monday and a visit from a very quick and skilful Eastleigh Academy side who were two nil ahead before goals from Aaron Moore and Leyton Tulk bought the scores level at the break.

Shane Locke put Street in front but an equaliser five minutes from time was merited. This was a very good test for Street.

The game was played throughout at a fast pace and Street can be pleased with their performance - they will not meet that class of opposition every week!

One player who has featured strongly in the friendlies so far has been Layton Tulk.

Layton, a local lad, joined the club from Bemerton Heath Harlequins in the latter half of last season, making fourteen appearances and scoring two goals. This after largely being on the bench at the Salisbury club.

He took time to settle at Street but his hard work and unselfish play were always recognised and appreciated.

This season so far he has impressed all with his play, work rate and sharpness and the goal he scored against Eastleigh on Monday was very well taken against quality opposition.

He is a popular and regular member of the squad who will have a large part to play over the coming season.

On Saturday they complete their friendlies with a visit from Wessex League Fleetlands. Kick-off is 3pm and admission £3 and £2 for concessions.
