STOCKBRIDGE were battered by the wind, the rain and their opponents on Saturday as they were thrashed 10-1 by Clanfield in the Hampshire Premier League.

Darren Ferguson and Matt Rowland each grabbed four for 6th placed Clanfield with Cam Palin and Ollie Amos adding a goal-a-piece.

The Robins were 1-0 down after just six minutes when Palin's right footed shot from the edge of the six yard box beat Alex Thompson at the near post.

Ferguson scored the first of his four a minute later with a shot from the far edge of the penalty area.

Stockbridge fought back from their poor start and pulled one back when Lee Hamilton netted in the 9th minute to make it 2-1.

Thompson denied Ferguson a second with a low save on 20 minutes after a free kick snuck through the home defence.

However Ferguson was not to be denied on 24 minutes when he smashed the ball home from the edge of the area to put the visitors 3-1 up.

Ollie Amos made it four after beating Thompson from the penalty spot on 35 minutes.

Just a minute later Rowland bagged the first of his four to give Clanfield a 5-1 lead going into the break.

However Stockbridge nearly pulled one back on the stroke of half time when Hamilton found his brother Sam with a cross, only for his effort to ripple the side netting.

Just two minutes after the restart Ferguson completed his hat-trick with a tidy finish inside the penalty area.

Sam Hamilton had another chance to reduce the deficit shortly after but his shot deflected off the post and out to safety.

And Stockbridge were punished soon after as Clanfield went 7-1 up as Rowland scored with a close range finish to bag his second of the game.

Ferguson scored his fourth and final goal shortly after the hour mark before Rowland rounded off his hat-trick with 15 minutes left to play.

Rowland then bagged his fourth, and Clanfield's tenth and final goal, with two minutes to go.

15th placed Stockbridge will be hoping for a better performance when they face Liss FC on Saturday.

However they face a tough match away from home against their high flying opponents who sit in 4th place, nine points off leaders Hamble Club.
