REPRESENTATIVES from Tidworth Garrison Golf Club have donated almost £10,000 to a local charity which helps rehabilitate wounded soldiers.

Men’s Captain Mike Cripps and Ladies’ Captain Jane Cripps visited the Help for Heroes run Tedworth House earlier this month to officially donate the £9,632.86 raised by the club in the 2014/15 season.

Usually the men’s and women’s sections fundraise for separate charities but both captains agreed to combine their fundraising efforts and donate their total to the charity Help for Heroes.

The money was raised throughout the year with the majority raised during the club’s fun day in July.

More than 100 players took part in the event, which was followed by a prize presentation, accompanied by music from a piper from the 19 Regiment Royal Artillery.

This was followed by an auction, which contained prizes donated by local businesses as well as club members. The whole event raised more than £6,000 towards the fundraising total.

Throughout the year, members were encouraged to contribute further to the fund by voluntarily paying a ‘fine’ for entering bunkers on the 13th hole.

As always, the Ladies’ Section held a number of very successful events throughout the year.
