LONGPARISH fell to a narrow defeat at the hands of Old Basing despite reaching the 200 mark for the first time this season.

Longparish won the toss and elected to bat first with openers William de Cani and Paul Blackmore putting on 143 (including extras) for the first wicket before de Cani was bowled by Cooper for 61.

His opening partner Blackmore soon followed him back to the pavilion with a score of 53 as Old Basing picked up five quick wickets.

However Justin Jackman 27 and Barry Blackmore dug in and pushed the score on to 229/8 as Longparish’s innings came to a close.

Following his impressive halfcentury with the bat, Blackmore then proceeded to pick up three wickets.

But a fifth wicket partnership of 92 between Turner, 71 and Cooper 41, pulled Old Basing out of trouble and pushed them past their target with two wickets and three balls remaining.

 

Old Basing II vs. Longparish II

OLD Basing IIs followed up their first team’s victory over Longparish with a low scoring win against their second eleven. Old Basing batted first and posted a score of 152 for 9 wickets in their 42 over innings.

U15 Alex Brinton and U14 Jordan Blackmore both bowled well and picked up wickets.

Martin Savage then hit 36 at the top of the Longparish batting order as the away side started their run chase positively.

However the introduction of David Smith into the Old Basing attack proved decisive as the bowler picked up five wickets to help his side to a 23 run win.

 

Longparish U15 vs. Otterbourne U15

UNBEATEN 30s from Will Arnold and William Samways helped Longparish under-15s to victory over Otterbourne last weekend.

The two batsmen put in an impressive performance for the home side who finished their innings with a total of 161 from 20 overs.

The Longparish attack were also in fine form with Tally O’Farrel bowling with genuine pace. Otterbourne ended on just 49 meaning Longparish ended the day with an 112 run win.

 

Longparish U13 vs. Ropley U13

LONGPARISH under-13s claimed victory over Ropley last weekend with Luke Benzing hitting 22 and Oliver Wills top scoring on 30. Hamish Jannaway also hit 27 as Longparish U13 posted 132 from their 20 overs and secured a 38 run win.
