BROUGHTON wrapped up their incredible campaign last weekend as they beat Wolversdene 4-2 in the President's Cup Final for their fourth trophy of the season.

They took the lead early on through Shane Vidler but then Steve Morgan’s corner found its way directly into the top corner.

Broughton soon regained the advantage, Windibank latching onto Vidler’s header and striking a thunderous shot into the net before Wolversdene almost levelled before half-time, hitting the crossbar from close range.

Ben Gardner kept the villagers in the lead with a point-blank save from close range, before Chris Mc-Crae kept out man of the match Vidler at the opposite end.

Broughton found a breakthrough on the hour through top scorer Matthew Marriner, before Daniel Lang latched onto Lewis Alderman’s through ball and gave Broughton a three-goal cushion at 4-1.

Wolversdene found late consolation in the dying seconds through Craig Harman, but it was far too little too late as Broughton took the silverware once again this season.

The result marks a landmark achievement for the Division 2 champions, an unbeaten season in all competitions, a record in competitive games which now stretches back to March 2014.

The club would like to thank all players and supporters for their efforts over what has been a highly memorable and successful season.
