Two members from Andover Triathlon club (sponsored by Heritage of Salisbury VW) completed the Portsmouth RNLI 10k recently. The event is organised by Believe and Achieve Events Ltd and is a run starting at the lifeboat station on Portsmouth seafront, running along the front around the Southsea Castle and finishing back at the station. Mike Donnelly and Peter Rowland turned up to a glorious sun filled morning along with 500 others keen to make their mark. For Rowland this was his first 10k after joining the club a few months earlier and for Donnelly this was his second time doing this event and the pair started out well and paced similarly for the first 7km. Donnelly maintained his pace using this run as a training lesson for his first half marathon planned in a few weeks’ time while Rowland finished in 58:50 which is a great time for his first 10k and the club look forward to seeing what he can achieve next season. Donnelly came in shortly after knocking 1 min23 secs off last year’s time. Donnelly said: “This was a great day out and proves to newcomers that you can achieve when you put the hard work in. We received great support from our families as we sprinted to the finish line”. More from Andover Triathlon Club in Friday's Advertiser
