A SUTTON Scotney family proved a big hit at rounds 12 and 13 of the NG Road Racing Club’s 2014 championship at Pembrey in South Wales last weekend.
Tom Vear and his stepson Chris Whitehouse made the trip to Wales to compete in the Open 600 and 700 Streetstock rounds.
On Saturday Vear, riding a Suzuki GSXR 600, and Whitehouse, riding a Triumph 675, both unluckily crashed out in the first Streetstocks qualifying race and had to start the main race from the back of the grid.
But Vear streaked through the pack to win, with Whitehouse third in the Open 600. Vear and Whitehouse finished tenth and 11th overall respectively.
Sunday was another dry day with perfect racing conditions and, like Saturday, the pair to start the main 700 Streetstock race from the back due to an earlier noise infringement.
Once again Vear cut through to win and Whitehouse recovered from a poor start finished fourth.
The Open 600 qualifying race saw Vear finish 13 and Whitehouse 14th.
The next and final round of the NG championship is at Thruxton on October 11 and both are looking for good finishing places.
