Thruxton v Langley Manor IV.

Langley Manor were asked to bat on the damp Charlton pitch which quickly paid off when the lively Adam Mills had his first victim on eight.

Langley Manor then batted doggedly against the pace of Mills and Matt Knight and the variable bounce as the second wicket partnership hit 50 when Dean Cresswell had the dangerous Patterson plumb for 32.

Manor lost two more wickets with Cresswell taking a rare catch and Sean Yates getting in on the act but a 41 run partnership for the fifth wicket and 33 for the eighth helped them to an adequate 159-9.

Mills, Knight and Cresswell took two each with Yates and Pickett taking one in what was a good team effort in the field.

Thruxton got off to a good start with an opening partnership of 35 before Andy McGovern lost his wicket for 15. Yates (23) and Ben Simpson (26) put on another 30before a change of bowling did for both as well as Steve Pickett leaving Thruxton 70-3 after 13 overs.

Skipper Paul Harvey (33no) steadied the ship and his 76 run partnership with Knight (38no) saw Thruxton home with 16 overs to go for their second win on the trot.
