ANDOVER-born TV presenter and campaigner Katie Piper has backed a fundraiser to support the mum injured in the Clapham chemical attack.

Author Katie, herself a victim of an horrific acid attack, donated £1,000 to an appeal for the woman who suffered potentially life-changing injuries. She also urged her 1.1m Instagram followers to help.

Sharing the details of the GoFundMe page – which has raised more than £44,000 – Katie said: "Always as donating please do share this page far and wide as many of you know burn treatment is a long process so going over target will still be very much needed. Thank you.”

At the time of writing, the post has received nearly 300 comments, with many saying that they have donated to the fundraiser.

It comes as police trawled the River Thames earlier this week looking for suspect Abdul Ezedi.  

He is thought to have doused his ex-partner, 31, and her two daughters, aged eight and three, with a corrosive alkaline substance. 

Detectives believe Ezedi may have gone into the river after being seen on CCTV leaning over the railings of Chelsea Bridge in west London on the night of the attack (January 31).

Metropolitan Police said on Friday, February 9, its main working hypothesis was the 35-year-old had “gone into” the Thames.

However, police admit that Ezedi’s body may never be found due to the speed of the current in the river.
