AN ANDOVER group which takes part in a Chinese meditation practice celebrated an international day centred on the pastime by visiting a heard of alpacas.
Moving Meditation - Qigong marked World Tai Chi and Qigong Day (WTCQD) with a visit to The Healing Herd in Nether Wallop.
Qigong is a form of exercise developed in China thousands of years ago for physical and mental health, which incorporates breathing exercises and gentle movements. The most well-known type of qigong in the Western world is tai chi.
WTCQD is observed in more than 80 countries on the last Saturday of April each year.

Members of Moving Meditation - Qigong in Andover marked the annual celebration on Saturday, April 27 with a visit to The Healing Herd, a farm in Nether Wallop for therapeutic alpaca activities operated by Gail Foster.
The qigong practitioners were welcomed by six alpacas, named Billy, Romesh, Al, Johnny, Rhod and Richard.
After a thorough safety briefing, the visitors led the alpacas on a short walk around the agility course. Following the meet and greet, feed, and walk, the members of Moving Meditation - Qigong took their places to practice qigong, surrounded by the alpacas.
Julie Thomas, of Moving Meditation - Qigong, said: “It was magical to finish up with a standing meditation, soaking in the peace and bird song in such a tranquil setting. The alpacas radiate a natural calmness, it was truly our pleasure to be with them.”
