ANDOVER musicians from a band with musical influences including Arctic Monkeys, will release a new 'indie banger' this year.

Jot Sloppy, which has opened for artists including Marseille, Charlotte Carpenter and The Rattlebacks, was formed by lead singer and guitarist Joe Osborne and Robby Spencer, guitarist, in 2022.

The pair met at college 15 years prior, deciding to start the band after playing more than 20 acoustic gigs together, before recruiting members George Walters, on drums, and Tom Bennet, on bass, to 'expand their sound'.

Joe and Robby recorded their debut single Nothing Stands In My Way at Woodenheart Studios in Andover, with producer Dan Parkinson. The track which was released in September, has been featured on BBC radio with 1,000 plays on Spotify.

Joe said: "The song is partly about a friend of mine who I had known since school who had passed away at a young age. It helps me to reflect on our friendship and how lonely I think he eventually felt (RIP Josh)."

The group's second single, which was released on February 9, is titled Fortune Favours The Brave featuring all four members, with their next song Decisions, 'out very soon'.

Joe continued: "Our ethos is just to keep going, we are under no illusions as to how difficult it is to break into the music industry.

"However, we strongly believe in ourselves and our songs and we will keep pushing at it with more gigs, more songs and more festival slots on the horizon."
