AN 80-YEAR-old woman from Andover has died after a crash outside a pub in Amport. 

Police were called to Sarson Lane, outside The Hawk Inn, at around 3.20pm on Thursday, April 4, to reports of a collision involving a blue Volkswagen Polo.

One of the passengers of the Polo, an 80-year-old woman from Andover, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the car, an 81-year-old woman from Somerset, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

She was released on bail until July 4 while police continue their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We would like to speak to anyone with information who has not already contacted the police regarding this incident.

"If anyone witnessed this incident, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage of what happened, please call 101 quoting reference number 44240141659."

The Hawk Inn was closed on Thursday while emergency services dealt with the incident. 

A post on the pub's Facebook page said: "Unfortunately due to a serious traffic incident outside the pub the road is currently closed in both directions and we will have to remain closed for the rest of the day."
