A MANUFACTURER based in Andover is planning to build a new office and warehouse unit in Andover Business Park to support its global expansion.

Stannah Lifts Holdings, which has been rooted in Andover since 1974, is seeking planning permission to construct a new industrial unit, spanning 136,000 sqft, just off the A303.

Commercial property developer Stoford has submitted a planning application on behalf of Stannah for the proposed unit, which is proposed to house offices, a warehouse and parking.

Situated on a vacant plot off Pioneer Road, adjacent to Stannah's recently completed 90,000 sqft factory, the new unit aims to integrate with the existing infrastructure, creating the appearance of a unified campus at Andover Business Park.

The site, formerly part of the Andover RAF Airfield, has remained vacant and is located between three existing industrial units.

The proposed development includes a flexible warehouse unit and ancillary offices spanning three storeys.

Vehicular access to the site will connect to the existing Andover Business Park roads, providing linkage to the A303.

The site layout incorporates 180 parking spaces, including nine designated for people with disabilities.

According to the design statement, Stannah plans to discourage car use and promote cycling. A secure, sheltered cycle store, located near the front entrance, aims to encourage employees to opt for sustainable transportation.

Internally, shower and changing facilities further support the promotion of eco-friendly commuting alternatives.

Established in 1867, Stannah Lifts has been a cornerstone of UK manufacturing for more than 150 years and remains in private family ownership.

Over the years, Stannah has become one of the largest employers in the area, contributing significantly to the local economy.

The company completed the construction of its new 90,000 sqft factory in the Andover Business Park in October.
