A Grade II listed house on the River Test in Hampshire opened its gardens on a stunning Sunday for a popular musical event.

Music on the Test was run by a small local fundraising group known as The Sofa Club and took place on September 3. This was the third time the event has been run.

Charities signed up for the event and printed tickets which were sold, with funds from ticket sales being split between the event organisers and charities selling the tickets.

The afternoon was a great success, with over 400 people attending the lovely gardens of Houghton Lodge for the event. The gates opened at 12pm, with attendees able to look around the walled garden and new Japanese garden, before walking along the River Test ready for the music to start.

The music started with Liza Marshall singing followed by Loose Change, a lively local band. After Loose Change, Test Valley Brass took to the stage and rounded off the afternoon with a concert.

Over £6,000 was raised for 12 local charities, with all the organisations receiving money back on every ticket sold.

A spokesperson for The Rotary Club of Andover said: "I would like to thank Liza, Dave Roberts of Loose Change, Test Valley Brass and, of course, the Busk family for allowing us to use their wonderful gardens.

"The event was run by a small local fundraising group known as The Sofa Club. The aim of the club is to raise money for smaller local charities, clubs and groups where a sum of £400 to £500 will make a great difference."
