JAW-DROPPING experiments, crafts and trails will all form part of a school holiday entertaining programme at the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop.

The museum’s holiday activities will offer six weeks of creative craft sessions with the Science of Flight at the heart of the summer activities.

Young visitors will explore the realms of aviation by making bi-planes, parachutes and flying saucers, as well as having the opportunity to explore the museum and see the wide range of aircraft including the mesmerising Rotabuggy, aka ‘The Flying Jeep’ in the Hayward Hall.

On July 26 and August 9 and 23, the museum will also welcome special guests Genie Lab, who will bring sensational science demonstrations and magnificent experiments to amaze and mystify visitors in the main hangar of the museum, surrounded by helicopters and gliders.

On August 22 and 26, the museum invites residents to come along and try their hand at making and painting a plastic model. With lots of models to choose from including vehicles, history, fantasy or storytelling, visitors will be guided by Models for Heroes and will take home a model after the session to remind them of their visit.

The museum has several creative trails taking place throughout the summer holidays along with the regular dress-up stations, jigsaws, interactive exhibits and of course, the opportunity to sit inside the helicopters within the museum.  The outdoor play park and picnic tables also give visitors the chance to see some amazing aircraft flying in and out of the historic Middle Wallop airfield.

Lucy Johnson, CEO of the museum, said: “We always enjoy offering a variety of free family activities during the school holidays, which gives visitors real added value for their annual passes. Everyone that visits the museum only has to pay once to get a free annual pass, so they can come back as often as they like throughout the year including all the school holidays.”

All holiday activities take place on weekdays from 10am to 12.30pm.
