A GROUP of family support and pastoral workers from Andover have been celebrating after organising an event offering support for families throughout the summer.

PEAS - Parents, Empowered by Andover Schools - are a group of family support and pastoral workers from schools in the area, who arranged the event which took place at The Lights on June 26.

Over 20 service providers attended the event, including the police, fire service, ACE, foodbank, Finding Freedom, Jiggy Wrigglers, Cholderton Rare Breeds, and Tot City.

The event was based around 'surviving summer' and provided families with ideas of things to do, support with finances, keeping safe and cost of living support.

Andover schools collaborated and worked together to put the event on for the community after it had become clear at a meeting between the schools that the information and services that schools know about differ from one to the next. From this, PEAS was formed and the 'surviving summer' event was arranged.

PEAS worked alongside Test Valley Borough Council on the event and said it had been 'very successful not only for families but also for the services that could network.'

A spokesperson for PEAS said: "The event was a great success and provided lots of information to families in Andover. We are really proud of ourselves for coming together as Andover Schools and putting on an event like this.

"We are hopeful that we can put on more events to support our families in the future."
