Armed Forces Day returned with success as hundreds showed their support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community, from serving troops to reservists, veterans, cadets and their families.

On Saturday, June 24, there was plenty for families to enjoy at Vigo Park which held the Arms Forces Day celebration.

From fairground rides, food trucks, musical entertainment, Royal Engineers activities and weapon displays.

The 4th Wiltshires and Soldiers of the Queen living history groups were on hand, and in costume, to answer any questions from visitors to their stall.

Pete Burden, who organised the living histories groups, was joined by fellow former MoD Boscombe Down colleague Marc Fogerty and his son Charlie to help display the historic army weapons and items, from bags to biscuit tins.

Andover Musical Theatre Company entertained the crowds with tunes from Entangled, Hamilton and Little Mermaid.

Vigo School Choir and Test Valley Brass also took to the main stage to provide musical entertainment at the Arms Forces Day event.

A number of veterans also showed off their strength in the Super Sports Star contest.

The day started at 11am with a flag-raising ceremony, before the Southern Jacobites Pipe Band, renowned for their extraordinary talent, brought the spirit of the Highlands to the town with enchanting melodies on the bagpipes and powerful rhythms on the drums.
