THREE men in Andover are looking for sponsors for an upcoming charity golf day, for a cause close to each of their hearts.

Corey McFarlane, Brett Paddock and Elliot Washer are taking part in the Macmillan Longest Golf Day charity event this year and are looking for two greens fees sponsors and donations to help those affected by cancer.

Brett and Corey completed the challenge last year and managed to raise just over £2,000, and are looking to do the same again this year. All three of the men have been affected by cancer in their lives.

Corey's mother has suffered from cancer on a number of occasions and is currently undergoing a precautionary fourth round of chemotherapy. Corey's grandfather also died of lung cancer.

Elliot is completing the challenge as his family has a long history of cancer on his mother's side. Both his great aunts and great-grandmother were affected by breast cancer and were supported by Macmillan.

Brett is taking part in the fundraiser as his father-in-law sadly died from throat cancer. Macmillan's cancer support provided a lot of help and support for the family during and after.

Corey said: "As a group, our expectations for the day are that we will lose a lot of balls, have incredibly sore feet, drink a load of water, and other beverages I'm sure. We're hoping to have a good day with some good mates supported by our families and friends."

The golf day is a national event organised by Macmillan Cancer Support where teams of players sign up to raise money. The event is being hosted by the Hampshire Manor Golf Club on June 12 with a tee-off time of 5.30am. Corey said they were hoping to finish somewhere around 9pm.

Corey added: "We currently have two partners in FLP Motors LTD and Innov8, who are paying a portion of our green fees which we are very grateful for. We are on the lookout for one or two more to help us out, so please get in touch."
