THE Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop is looking forward to welcoming visitors throughout the half-term holiday to participate in crafty-themed fun.

For younger visitors, there will be a daily story-telling session during the week in the soft play area at 2pm with a different aviation-themed story each day.

Craft activities will see visitors making character puppets and there will be a tricky time traveller-themed trail to keep everyone busy, searching the Museum for some unique artefacts hidden in plain sight. All the activities will run alongside the regular dress-up stations, pilot’s logbook trail, jigsaws, interactive exhibits and of course, the opportunity to sit inside the helicopters within the museum.

Lucy Johnson, CEO of the Army Flying Museum, said: “We always enjoy offering a variety of free family activities during the school holidays and it is lovely to see the soft play area being utilised as a story-telling space this half term. These activities really do give visitors so much added value for their annual passes. Everyone that visits the museum only has to pay once to get a free annual pass, so they can come back as often as they like throughout the year including all the school holidays.”

The warmer weather also gives a wonderful opportunity for visitors to take a seat on the café balcony which overlooks the airfield and view a variety of aircraft flying in and out of Middle Wallop.

On Monday, May 29, the museum will stage a ‘noise off’ morning from 9am to 12.30pm to enable people with sensory processing issues to explore the museum in a quieter environment.

Another new activity available to visitors this half term will be model-making sessions with Models for Heroes. The sessions are included in general admission although donations to the charity are welcome. The sessions are open to all ages and will invite visitors to learn how to make and paint plastic models to take home to remind them of their visit to the museum.  Sessions will take place on May 27 and June 1 from 10am-3.30pm.

All craft activities are included with a general admission ticket which gives visitors a free annual pass to the museum. With many more activities planned for the summer, including the return of Genie Lab with its amazing science shows and experiments, the annual pass is sure to be a popular choice this half term, giving visitors fabulous value for money.
