WE ASKED AI chatbot ChatGPT what the worst things in Andover are - this is what it said

ChatGPT has become a hit because of its ability to hold conversations and generate speeches, songs and essays.

Basically, people can ask ChatGPT anything and it will respond in a natural, human way.

While some people are opting to use the site for fun, others are concerned it may become the new way to write school essays and even news articles, and could even replace journalists.

We decided to ask the text-based AI to list the worst things about Basingstoke to see if there’s any truth in what it comes up with.

Here’s what it came up with - but is it true?

1. Traffic: Andover is a small town, but there is still a lot of traffic during rush hour and at other times.

2. Limited Amenities: Andover is a small town, and there are limited amenities available.

3. Lack of Variety: There is a limited variety of restaurants, shops and activities in Andover.

4. Cost of Living: The cost of living in Andover is relatively high compared to other areas in the UK.

5. Crime: Crime rates in Andover are higher than the UK average.

There's a lot to take in, are these really Andover's worst features?

During rush hour, many towns suffer from traffic and delays as thousands of people head to work and school. Is Andover worse than anywhere else?

A lack of amenities and variety seems a bit harsh. From the Museum of the Iron Age to Anton Lakes, there's plenty to see and do here.

The town centre has some lovely cafes, restaurants and pubs - it's a bit unfair to say there's a lack of variety here.

It may have a point with the cost of living, although Andover isn't as expensive as other areas in Hampshire, soaring inflation and rising energy prices are making it difficult for more and more people to make ends meet.

Test Valley families face "depths of a crisis" as almost 3,000 children are living in poverty. One in eight children in Test Valley are living in relative poverty, figures from the Department for Work and Pension show.

According to CrimeRate.co.uk, the overall crime rate in Andover in 2022 was 106 crimes per 1,000 people - coming in 25 per cent higher than the Hampshire rate of 85 per 1,000 residents.

What do you think? Any truth in the AI's words?
