AN ANDOVER student is preparing to travel on an African adventure where she will help do vital work in local communities.

In March 2024, Kacee Stainer will be travelling to Kenya alongside her school, Winton Community Academy.

The 14-year-old is fundraising to take part in a nine-day trip where she will be a teaching assistant in maths and English classes, and assisting with physical work to help build classrooms at Chady Mission School.

Sadly, on January 1 this year, Kacee's nan died, who was supporting her in raising the funds for the trip.

Since then, Kacee has become even more determined to achieve her fundraising goals to be able to go to Africa and make her nan proud.

Kacee said: "It would feel amazing to go on this trip, not only because of accomplishing such a great achievement of raising money but also being given the opportunity to make a difference in the children's lives, even if it's just a small thing that I've helped them with.

"It would be an experience of a lifetime to see how they live and to learn what their culture is like."

Kacee has so far raised £140 of her £635 target.

To help fundraise she has been taking part in bake sales at her school, and has started a bin cleaning service in the village where she lives.

The teen's family are extremely supportive of her upcoming trip and has helped her along the way.

Kacee is now planning a seven-mile horseshoe hike around Snowdon in Wales on June 5.
