Andover's Armed Forces Day is set to return to Vigo Park this year on June 24.

The event, which will run from 12-5pm, is set to be a showstopper, with an awe-inspiring Apache helicopter the highlight of the day, provided by the Army Air Corps based at Middle Wallop.

The combat chopper will appear alongside a Gazelle and other military vehicles, both modern and historical.

Andover Armed Forces Day committee chairman, Richard Rowles, said: “I am sure people will agree that we are privileged to have one of the world’s most advanced pieces of military technology come to our event.

"The presence of a multi-million pound flying gunship needs a lot of planning, and we are already working with the army, police and local councils to ensure its safe and visually impressive arrival”.

The event, which celebrates our Armed Forces past, present and future, will also have exhibitions, reenactments and family-friendly activities. These will include bridge building by the Royal Engineers, bushcraft activities and medal presentations for former forces personnel by the mayor and deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire.
