A WOMAN was racially abused as she walked through a Hampshire town.

The 32-year old victim was approached by four teenagers as she walked through Andover.

She had been walking along a footpath from Waterloo Court towards High Street when the four young men aged between 17 and 19 approached her.

It took place around 7.45pm on Thursday, August 4, as she walked past David Mellor Family Jewellers.

She heard them laughing, and as she went by, one of the males made an insulting comment towards her.

A spokesman from Hampshire police said the victim, who carried on walking towards the High Street, has been left very distressed by the incident.

All four males in the group are described as white, of medium height and build. All wore jeans and the male who spoke did so with a Southern English accent.

Two of the males were on pushbikes.

PC Anna Davies, of Andover police station, said: “There would have been a lot of people in this area at this time. Did you see what happened?

“Incidents such as these are rare in Andover, and we are keen for anyone who knows anything about what happened to call us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Davies at Andover police station on 101, quoting 44160297631.

Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
