A RECTOR in Ludgershall is offering the use of free Wi-Fi to any Pokémon master wannabes who gotta catch ’em all.

For those who have not heard of the international phone app craze, Pokémon Go is a game that was launched last week which allows users to hunt all 250 Pokémon, strange creatures which appear to inhabit the real world when using the app.

Reverend Claire Maxim for St James’ Church found out that the church is a Pokéstop from her two children.

A Pokéstop is where users can go to restock items that they need in order to play the game.

Rev’d Maxim said: “They’re really interested and they’ve been really excited about it coming out.

“When they told us the church was a Pokéstop, they explained to us by taking out their phones and we discovered that there was no 3G or 4G, which makes it difficult.”

“So it seemed sensible to put up a sign and offer people the chance to use the Wi-Fi.”

Her 20-year-old son and 17-year-old daughter decided to help design a poster to advertise free Wi-Fi from the church hall with their mum.

With a Pokéball and a Pokéman plush toy to hand, they created the sign and hung the sign on the church’s noticeboard outside.

She added: “No-one’s used it yet.”

The Rector said that some churches have become “Gyms” where players battle their captured Pokémon. As far as she is aware the town has two such Gyms – The War Memorial and and Ludgershall Castle.
