POLICE are warning residents to be cautious after a rogue trader called at the door of a Test Valley home recently.
The male caller offered a free new roof the the owners of the property based in Hillyfields after the council had done some roof repairs in the area.
Officers are also asking residents to warn elderly or vulnerable neighbours as they tend to be targeted by rogue traders.
Police have given some advice including not opening the door unless you are expecting a visitor and if they claim to be a police officer, council official, or workman to ask for their I.D.
Call 999 if you do suspect that a bogus caller is at your door but if they have already left then call 101.
