YOU might not think of Andover as trendy, and now a new test developed by a national newspaper confirms that to be true.

The Daily Mirror has released an in-depth statistical analysis, showing where the trendiest places to live in the UK are, with Manchester coming out on top.

The analysis uses key indicators to decide what makes a town fashionable and hip, including how many people are moving to the area, the proportion of the population aged 20 to 35, the number of new start-up companies and the number of restaurants in the Michelin Guide.

People can simply type in their postcode to find out how trendy their town is.

Overall, Andover is deemed to be 'not trendy', according to the results.

For population, the town's young professionals are said to be "more geographically mobile than older generations and are more likely to move to areas considered trendy".

A total of 15.7 per cent of Andover's population is aged between 20 and 35, with an national average of 18.6 per cent.

The prevalence of start-up companies is thought to be a good way to measure the trendiness of an area, and in Andover 16.1 per cent of the companies registered were founded after January 2015, compared to the national average of 17.6.

There are five restaurants in Basingstoke and Deane which appear in the 2016 Michelin Guide, equating to a rate of 3.4 per 100,000 residents.

That might not sound great, but it's actually above the national average of 1.6 per 100,000.
