AN ANDOVER thief has been jailed after pleading guilty to a spate of thefts throughout the town.

Steven Anthony Allen, of Kennet Court, was sentenced to six weeks in prison when he appeared before magistrates in Basingstoke earlier this week charged with five counts of theft.

The 25-year-old admitted to stealing an energy drink worth 99p from McColls, to stealing a Vespa scooter and to driving the scooter without insurance along Roman Way.

He further pleaded guilty to entering a property on Union Street with the intention of stealing, to the theft of a number of polo shirts from Marks and Spencer and to stealing a Phillips Razor worth £169 from Boots.

This follows a previous one-week prison sentence imposed on the defendant in June for similar offences.

Allen was also ordered to pay a total of £600.99 compensation, £180 criminal courts charges and had his driving licence endorsed with six points for driving without insurance.
