AN ANDOVER nightclub has started its new life with a bang following a £250,000 redevelopment.

Cameo and Vinyl, formerly known as Life, officially opened on Friday July 10 to a packed crowd and a special guest appearance from ex-Fun House presenter, Pat Sharp.

The 90s TV star officially opened the venue following the four week redevelopment project, which has resulted in the club being split in to two separate rooms and a new dancefloor added.

The Cameo room will play modern chart music with the other, Vinyl, playing a more retro sound.

Alongside the major changes, the club’s décor, booths and smoking terrace have also been given a makeover as part of the revamp.

Following the success of the opening night, the club then hosted Kiss FM star Charlie Hedges, who performed a DJ set on the Saturday night, before 90s house group Baby D performed their famous number one hit Let Me Be Your Fantasy the following Wednesday.

Talking about the opening, general manager Howard Cooper said: “It is a new era for the club and we are delighted with such a positive response to the launch.

“We are all about delivering great nights out and memorable experiences and this is just the start.

“We are looking to build on this success.”

The management were not the only ones who were happy with the opening.

Reveller Callum Welfare told the Andover Advertiser: “It was packed. There was a really good atmosphere and the music was unbelievable as well. They have obviously put a lot of effort into it.”

A tribute to Olly Murs will take place tonight (Wednesday) while Jon Clark, from Love Island, will make an appearance on Saturday (1 August).
