HAMPSHIRE Police are appealing for information after thieves stole over £1,000 worth of cigarettes last week.

Two men made their getaway in the direction of Overton in the early hours of the morning on Thursday (28 May) after smashing their way into the Nisa Local stores on Swan Street, Kingsclere.

The men wore motorcycle helmets as they raided the store at around 1.30am and took cigarettes from behind the counter before leaving the scene on a dark sports-style motorbike.

They are described as being slim to medium build and wearing casual clothing.

Damage caused to the shop during the burglary is also thought to be worth around £1,000.

DC Thomas Prutz said: “This was a small local business targeted for a high value theft. A substantial amount of money has been spent on updating the shop. As part of this incident the offenders did significant damage to the front of the store which must now be repaired.

"I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything on the night or has any information at all about this crime. I would also like to speak to anyone who saw two people on a motorcycle overnight in the rural area of North Hampshire.”
