AN OWN brand fish meal is being recalled by a major supermarket chain because it contains ingredients that could bring on an allergic reaction.
The breaded cod fillets contain the allergens mustard and milk – and the recall has been prompted because the ingredients have not been flagged up on the box.
Co-op issued the product warning at the weekend.
A spokesman said: ‘‘Co-op is recalling its frozen Co-operative Loved by Us 4 Breaded Cod Fillets because they contain mustard and milk, which is not mentioned on the packaging.
"This makes the product a possible health risk for anyone who has an allergy or intolerance to mustard and/or milk and its constituents.’’
If you have bought Co-operative Loved by Us 4 Breaded Cod Fillets (frozen) and have an allergy or intolerance to mustard and/or milk and its constituents, do not eat it.
Instead, phone the Co-operative's Customer Careline on freephone 0800 0686 727 to arrange a full refund.
The product has a best before date of the end of February 2016.
