Let there be light!

The countdown to Christmas began in Andover on Friday night with the town’s lights switch-on.

Thousands of revellers crowded outside the Guildhall to see Andover’s Little Star, Maddie Donohue (below), turn on the lights at 7.30pm followed by the Chantry Centre’s spectacular firework display.

Andover Advertiser:

The Breeze presenters Tony and Steph hosted stage throughout the evening with performances from local artists and choirs including John Hanson Community Choir, Dance Fit, Portway Glee Club and Chasing Daisies.

The event was organised by Test Valley Borough Council with Andover Town Council providing the lights, and Basepoint sponsoring the BIGTV stage.

Organiser, Heather Whittam, from Test Valley Borough Council, said: “It’s always so good to see thousands of people turn out for this key community event in the town. “I have to say a special thank you to all the local performers who give their time completely free to entertain the crowds on the stage and to the sponsors and advertisers who support the event.”
